OUR STORY

Jumbo Jumbo Kitchen – Where Heritage Meets Community
The story of Jumbo Jumbo Kitchen began long before its doors opened on the Sunshine Coast.
In 1973, a small neighbourhood café called Jumbo Café opened in Sau Mau Ping Estate, Hong Kong. Founded by Jackson Lee, it quickly became a local favourite, serving comforting breakfasts, silky milk tea, and warm, welcoming service that made people feel at home. It was more than just food; it was a place where stories, friendships, and laughter were shared.

Samuel, Jackson’s son, grew up surrounded by those familiar aromas and conversations. Years later, he carried that same spirit into his own journey. In 2019, Sam ran a takeaway shop, serving affordable, hearty meals with a smile. Later, he became a driving instructor, guiding young adults through one of life’s key transitions. Whatever the role, Sam’s focus never changed: community always came first.

With Jumbo Jumbo Kitchen, Sam now brings the heart of Hong Kong café culture to the Sunshine Coast, reimagined with fresh, local ingredients and a generous dose of Cantonese nostalgia. This is more than a place to eat. It is a place to connect, to remember, and to taste a legacy.

Come for the HK style egg tarts; stir-fried beef ho fan; silky milk tea; stay for the stories.

So, what would you love to try first?
